Tradition of Care
Since 1981, South Point Family Practice has been dedicated to personalized health care for the entire family – from newborn through the senior years. We encourage you to ask questions and take an active role in your health care. We are interested not only in helping you through an illness, but also in helping you stay well. For your convenience, we accept most insurances and offer Urgent Care hours and we have same same-day appointments available. We look forward to welcoming you and your family as patients of South Point Family Practice.
Since 2007 we have been part of Caromont Medical Group. This affiliation has allowed us to continue to strengthen and expand our services and hours for our patients. The Belmont, Mt. Holly, Stanley and surrounding communities have always been supportive of South Point Family Practice. We have very loyal patients and they know that we genuinely care for them. Frequently, several generations of the same family return for medical care with us.
Computerized Medical Records and Patient Portal
We have been using fully computerized patient records since 2004, and continue to find convenience, efficiency , and safety in using these systems for years. We are continually improving our systems and remaining vigilant to keep your medical records safe and private. We have implemented a Patient Portal, a link on this website that will allow you to interact with our office through the Internet, to view your lab results and make requests for refills and appointment and other activities on-line. Simply click on the link in the upper left corner of this page to go to the portal logon.
Use of Hospitalists
After 27 years of providing hospital services to our patients, we have discontinued this service as of April, 2009. This change was a difficult decision to make for us, but was necessary do to the changing medical system and changing hospital requirements. We now are working closely with the Hospitalist physicians at Gaston Memorial Hospital. These Hospitalist physicians will provide in-hospital care for you, if needed, and we welcome your return to our care after hospitalization. Our goal, of course, is always to keep you out of the hospital when possible.
Updated Technology: Digital Mammography
When screening for breast cancer, we often use mammography in combination with manual examination. DIGITAL mammography uses essentially the same mammography system as conventional mammography, but the system is equipped with a DIGITAL receptor and a computer instead of a film cassette. The technology of DIGITAL mammography provides the ability to enhance subtle, but potentially significant, changes in the early detection of abnormal breast tissue.
