Since 1981, South Point Family Practice has been dedicated to personalized health care for the entire family – from newborn through the senior years. We encourage patients to ask questions and take an active role in their health care. We are interested not only in helping you through an illness, but also in helping you stay well. For your convenience, we accept most insurances and offer Urgent Care hours and we usually have same same-day appointments available. We look forward to welcoming you and your family as patients of South Point Family Practice.
In January 2005 our Belmont office was relocated to Park Street Commons. This move has
enabled us to expand our services to include in-office cardiac stress testing, enhanced
laboratory services, sleep studies, advanced x-ray, ultrasound and osteoporosis imaging tests.
Since 2007 we have been part of Caromont Medical Group. This affiliation has allowed us to continue to strengthen and expand our services and hours for our patients. The Belmont and Stanley and surrounding communities have always been supportive of South Point Family Practice. We have very loyal patients and they know that we genuinely care for them. Frequently, several generations of the same family return for medical care with us.
Recent change: Use of Hospitalists
After 27 years of providing hospital services to our patients, we have discontinued this service as of April, 2009. This change was a difficult decision to make for us, but was necessary do to the changing medical system and changing hospital requirements. We now are working closely with the Hospitalist physicians at Gaston Memorial and at the Charlotte hospitals. These Hospitalist physicians will provide in-hospital care for you, if needed, and you can return to our care after hospitalization. Our goal, of course, is always to keep you out of the hospital when possible.

Computerized Medical Records
There has been much discussion recently about computerized medical records, electronic prescription writing, and electronic lab result services. We have been using fully computerized patient records since 2004, and continue to find convenience, efficiency , and safety in using these systems for years. We are continually improving our systems and continually keeping vigilant to keep your medical records safe and private. We have recently implemented a Patient Portal, a link on our website www.spfp.net that will allow you to interact with our office through the Internet, to view your lab results and make requests for refill and appointment and other activities on-line.
